We stayed in the Windsor Grande Luxe Oceanview Concierge Room. It is perfect. Our favorites were the mini-bar and the balcony overlooking the beautiful blue ocean. The staff everywhere seemed to genuinly care about our happiness. Every where we looked a staff member was smiling at us, asking if they could do anything to make our stay more enjoyable. The pools are beautiful ~ we LOVED the swim-up bars. You have got to try the Pina Colads ~ YUMMY!!! Every restaurant was delicious! There is somthing to eat for everyone, at anytime of the day. Our favorite was the Cricketer's Pub because it's open until the early morning hours when we were just ready to eat dinner! :-) Overall I would say this is the best hotel we have ever stayed at. It was so romantic and relaxing. I highly reccomend staying to here to couples of all ages. |

The swim-up lagoon room is excellent. It is almost like having
your own pool.
While on St Lucia book one of the catamaran cruises to
Soufriere and see the volcano, diamond falls, and botanical
gardens. They stop for snorkeling on the way back. Also...
walk out the main gate of the Grande and walk down the road a
very short way to the left and go into Pigeon Island park and
go up to the ruins of the fort up there. It's a stunning view.
Take your camera. There is also a guided tour of the park.
It's close, it costs about 5 bucks and it was a very nice
morning walk.
Get to the Castries market if you're there on a Saturday
especially. As much as you're paying for the Grande this may
sound silly, but GET OFF THE RESORT and go out and meet St
Lucians... they're wonderful people and it's a gorgeous
island. The Grande is a nice introduction.
The only difference between the rooms is (a) the view and (b)
whether they have concierge service. The concierge service
meant that you have robes, a CD player, spirits (rum, vodka,
gin and whiskey) in your room and beer, wine and sparkling
wine in your fridge in addition to soft drinks and bottled
water that you get in all rooms.
The concierge rooms also mean that you have access to 24 hour
room service, although there is a limited breakfast menu
available in the other room types.
We had one of the beachview honeymoon concierge penthouse
rooms (top (3rd) floor of building 5. This is the building
closest to Pigeon Island and was extremely quiet). The view
across to Rodney Bay was lovely.
It looks like buildings 3-Rodney Bay and 5-Massade have beachfront rooms that don't face the pool. Also, when we priced it out, it looks like it would only be about $150 more for a Penthouse Beachfront with Concierge, than a Grande Luxe Beachfront with no Concierge. I think the slightly superier view and concierge service is worth that much, but if it were any more, I'm not sure we'd go for it.
Rodnet Bay and Massade
buldings do have beachfront rooms and there is a "quiet
pool" between the bulidings and the beach. You'd want to
get out there in the morning and reserve a lounger by putting
a towel on it, but it really is a nice pool away from the
hussle bustle of the main pool. You can ALSO simply walk
around the other side of those buildings and walk out onto the
lagoon pool "island" if you want even more privacy.
Rarely did I see all loungers taken there (can't remember EVER
seeing them all taken actually) and just really not a lot of
people in the lagoon pool ever.
If you are on the beachside of Rodney Bay or Massade and you
want a view from your balcony, then you'd want one of the top
floor rooms. Hey all the rooms are really about the same size
except for the limited number of suites. So it's really all
about where you want to be. :)
